Where acoustic doors work best

In most soundproofed rooms the door is the weak point. A standard hollow-core door is light and leaves gaps around its edges and underneath, so a room with well-built walls can still leak sound through its doorway. A wooden acoustic door adds mass to the leaf and closes those gaps with seals.

How we supply and install them

A door only performs as well as its frame, its seals and the wall it sits in. We install the leaf and frame together, set the perimeter seals so they compress evenly when the door closes, and fit a drop-down bottom seal that lowers onto the floor or threshold as the door shuts. The gap between the frame and the wall is packed and sealed, so sound cannot pass around the frame.

The finish is chosen to match the room, in veneer, paint or laminate, with hinges and handles suited to a heavier leaf. Where an existing door is staying, door seals on their own can be a useful improvement.
