Where acoustic sealant works best
Sound travels wherever air can: a partition with good insulation and heavy boards can still underperform because of a gap at the floor, a socket box or a pipe sleeve. Acoustic sealant stays flexible after it cures, so it keeps those gaps closed as the building moves and expands in the heat, where a rigid filler can crack.
- Perimeter joints where plasterboard meets the floor, walls and ceiling
- Around socket boxes, switches and back-to-back outlets
- Pipe, cable and duct penetrations through walls and ceilings
- Seams and edges of mass-loaded vinyl barriers
- Door and window frames, where the frame meets the wall
Sealant is a small part of the budget but often decides whether soundproofing works; our guide to soundproofing cost in Dubai explains where the money goes. It is used together with mass-loaded vinyl and door seals to close every path sound could take.
How it’s applied
Joints are cleaned and dried, and a continuous bead is run so the gap is filled completely; wider gaps are backed with a foam backer rod first, so the sealant forms a proper joint rather than disappearing into the cavity. On multi-layer walls, sealant goes in at the perimeter of each board layer, not just the visible face, and around every penetration before the next board closes over it. Once cured, perimeter joints are normally hidden by skirting, trim or the finishing coat.
Our own team uses it on the soundproofing work we install in all seven emirates. For contractors in Saudi Arabia and the other GCC countries we supply sealant only.

How it works
Stops noise travelling between rooms
Blocking sound takes mass, insulation and an airtight seal. A dense layer in the wall, floor or door turns most of the noise back, so only a fraction reaches the room next door.
