Where groove panels work best

Acoustic groove panels have a board face cut with a regular pattern of grooves, with perforations through the back and an absorbent fleece or insulation behind. Sound passes through the grooves and perforations and is absorbed in the cavity behind the panel, so the wall reads as clean, linear timber while the room sounds less harsh.

Groove panels are one of the finishes we consider for a home cinema in a villa; in offices they often appear in our corporate interiors work.

How it’s fitted

Panels are usually fixed to a sub-frame or battens with a cavity behind, which is often filled with mineral wool or another absorbent layer to improve performance. Many systems use tongue-and-groove edges, so the joints disappear into the groove pattern. The set-out matters: grooves should line up across panels, around doors and at corners, and sockets, speakers and lights are cut in before the panels go up. On ceilings, the framing is designed to carry the weight of the panels safely.

Our own team installs in all seven emirates. For Saudi Arabia and the other GCC countries we supply panels only.
