Acoustic Wood Wool Panels

Where wood wool panels work best

Wood wool panels are made from long strands of wood fibre bonded with cement. That mix makes them tough and impact-resistant, with an open, textured surface that absorbs sound and reduces echo. They suit rooms that take knocks, and designs that want an honest, natural texture on walls and ceilings.

• School classrooms, sports halls and corridors
• Restaurants, cafés and food halls with hard surfaces
• Auditoriums and multipurpose halls
• Offices and showrooms with exposed, industrial-style ceilings
• Gyms and activity rooms

In large or tall spaces, wood wool is often combined with ceiling baffles hung lower down. Our guide to reducing echo in an office, majlis or living room explains how much treatment a room usually needs.

How it’s fitted

Wood wool panels can be screwed directly to a wall or soffit, laid into a suspended ceiling grid, or fixed on battens with insulation in the cavity behind for more absorption at lower frequencies. They are heavier than felt or fibre absorbers, so fixings are chosen to suit the wall or slab they go into. The panels can be left natural or painted; if they are painted, a light spray coat keeps the open texture that does the absorbing, while heavy rolling can fill it.

Our own team installs in all seven emirates, including in restaurant fit-outs where a durable, textured finish suits busy dining rooms. For Saudi Arabia and the other GCC countries we supply panels only.
